Automatically, Loki snatched the book before it could fall - a lifetime of love for books, and never knowing when things would fly at him courtesy of Thor and his friends (never on purpose, of course...), it meant that Loki had learned to catch unexpected items at a very young age and with very little thought. Unfortunately, he always tried to catch with his right arm, his dominant arm - the same one that had been battered in his scuffle with Heimdall. He winced, but said nothing about it.

"Thank you, my love," he answered softly, turning away to stack the book with the rest of the growing pile of his things on the bed.
